FUCK Blogspot

Since November of 2009, I’ve been using Blogger as the home of The New Classics, and have been writing not only some of my best reviews and personal thoughts on the current landscape of music, but an incredible volume of posts. More than I should be capable of on my schedule. About ten minutes ago, Blogspot completely deleted all of my work, without a trace left, citing “infringement”, and that I went against their terms of service. Somehow, when all of my posts were made up of my own words, youtube embeds, and LINKS to either the sites whom originally posted the music, or the actual links that those sites hosted. NONE of the links I posted were of my own personal files, and was merely relaying already uploaded (and presumably ok with the artists) files. I am incredibly aggrivated at the moment that the last four months of my site have literally disappeared for no good reason, especially since in the 9 or 10 months that I called WordPress home last year, I never had a single problem like this.

I am very sorry that I ever left WordPress for the bullshit (and less-advanced in many ways) blog world of Google’s Blogger. So fuck it, I might have lost over 500 posts and countless irreplaceable pieces of journalistic opinions, thoughts, and archived ideas, but I am not going to stop.

The New Classics is returning to WordPress, as early as later today, and I’m gonna keep this motherfucker truckin’. FUCK BLOGSPOT

Quick Message

It’s obviously been slow this past week in terms of music coming out (besides a handful of pretty great music videos), so I will be postponing the weekly “Top Music” edition until this Sunday. This actually works out better, because it is easier for me to compose the lists on these days, and it just makes more sense to pump these out at the end of the weekend. But before Sunday you’ll be seeing an album review of the new Franz Ferdinand album, and hopefully the Bon Iver EP, as well as whatever new music drops in these next few days.

Also, on January 31st I’ll be dropping the very first New Classics Mixtape, consisting of the best 20 songs of the month, complete with artwork. And I’m hoping that by February, I can convince a buddy of mine to start contributing some type of creative material to the site, so look out for that. And remember to comment if you like what you see or hear. Or even if you don’t like something, drop a line anyway. We gotta start pumping some blood into the comments section.

Starting January 1, 2009, this site will begin featuring material which includes:

-Daily leaked music, and my opinions on if said music is worth your (or anyone’s) time
-Opinion pieces on the state of modern music
-Shorthand album reviews, upon release date
-Artist evaluations
-Music videos
-Features; including lists, suggested listening, mixtapes and more…

The internet needs a fresh take on the music of today. One that isn’t elitist with a false-entitlement to superiority. This site is for truely good music, be it mainstream or indie. Genres be damned. Hopefully you will discover something that you wouldn’t have even thought of giving a listen to had you not come across this site.

Comments are MANDATORY. If you read something and you like it, let me know. If you read something and disagree, definitely let me know. And if you don’t have an opinion, you shouldn’t be around here anyway. The comments will be the lifeblood of this site, and my only motivation for continuing to write.

My main goal with tNC is to document music as it is born to the web, and follow it as it grows, along with my ever-changing tastes. Blogs are self-indulgent, but there’s gonna be enough variety around here for everyone, I promise that.

tNCx begin in 09. Walk with me.
