New Music: Passion Pit, Moth’s Wings

Song: Moth’s Wings
Artist: Passion Pit
Album: Manners
Label: Frenchkiss Records
Notes: none
Analysis: Wow, this Passion Pit album is actually shaping up to be pretty fucking great. Switching gears from the trippy ‘Sleepyhead’ and dancy ‘The Reeling’, ‘Moth’s Wings’ is a really sharp pop tune built from head to toe for the summer (and probably eventually indie film trailers). It has an ascending piano-based rhythm and carries a similar sonic atmosphere that we’ve heard from the band’s previous material, but in a sweeter tone. I’ve been anxious for the album, but at this point Manners is now my number one anticipated album of the moment.
