Song: Hip Hop’s Cool Again
Artist:
Oddisee
Album:
Mental Liberation
Label:
Mello Music Group
Producer:
Oddisee
Notes:
none
Analysis:
I don’t think that hip hop ever stopped being cool, you just have to know where to look. Oddisee is one of the new school artists that actually stand out, and he’s been making a name for himself over the past year or so. So this year he’s set to release an LP called Mental Liberation, and this track is the first to come forward. I should mention that Oddisee does most of his own production, which I really respect because that’s what makes a real musician, in my opinion. ‘Hip Hop’s Cool Again’ is just as the title suggests: cool. Pianos and horns lace the background and Oddisee rocks his own beat with a smooth flow. It’s another track to get us ready for the warm weather, and while it isn’t neccesarily anything different, it still serves that very important purpose. And I like Oddisee as an artist, so I recommend you download this song, even if only just to say you’ve heard his stuff. It’s worth it.
